November/December
2007:
I’d
like to thank all those that participated in this year’s elections. We had tremendous turnout for the election
and a large number of community members attended the annual meeting. We have a new Board of Directors. Vicky Long,
Ron New and Dave Flynn join Howard Ogden and Stan Kensic to make up the five member board.
At
the same time, ballot measures A, B and C all failed to receive the support needed to pass. These three measures would
have permitted the association to fund and erect an entry gate/guard station at the entrance to the plateau.
Your
new Board of Directors will have their hands full this year. A strict budget in a time of increasing costs means that
we will have to be careful will expenses. Howard Ogden, acting as Treasurer will be keeping a close eye on expenses.
He will be working with each committee to ensure that we are getting the most for each dollar spent.
Stan
Kensic, Vice President of LCPOA will be deeply involved in guiding the new board though the jungle, lending his experience
and knowledge to the team. This will be welcome as we move forward with several issues involving legal matters.
Your
new Secretary, Vicky Long, will be involved in helping to get documents filed properly, and to document the activities of
some of our committees including the trails committee. During the recent elections, we learned that some documentation
from the early days of La Cresta had been missing or hard to locate. Making certain that these documents are readily
available and properly filed will keep Vicky very busy.
Ron
New, Member at Large, will be very involved in making certain the board takes care of all the members’ needs and concerns.
Being a Member at Large will allow Ron to view our activities from all angles and provide feedback as the appropriateness
of our actions.
As
for myself… as President, I will be focused on the day-to-day operation of the association, as well as supporting this
new board in their efforts. The first order of business will be to appoint the committee members and Chairpersons.
We are fortunate to have so many volunteers in the community that we can rely on the talents and hard work of the committees
to make life in La Cresta enjoyable.
Our
new committees will be made up of past members and new volunteers. Without the participation of these volunteers, this
community would not function. They work tirelessly to maintain our roads, trails, community beauty and architectural
integrity and to help us communicate with you. As lucky as we are to have these volunteers, we need more. There
are open positions in all of our committees, and we welcome anyone that would like to participate. If you have the time
and energy to help, please contact any of your board members to find out how you can join in on the fun.
The
committees with open positions are: Architectural Committee, Roads, Trails, Communications, Welcoming, Beautification
and Safety.
Finally,
I’d like to extend a personal invitation to all community members to join us each month for the monthly Board of Directors
meetings. They are held the first Wednesday of each month at Fire Station 75 starting at 6:00. There is time during
each meeting where members can give feedback and ideas to their elected officials. This is a great chance to see what
is happening in La Cresta and to have a direct voice in the operation of the community. Knowing that it is often hard
to attend these meetings, we invite you to contact your board members directly with any questions, comments or concerns you
may have.
I
look forward to working with this new board, and to representing the members of La Cresta. I know all of the board members
are honored to have this opportunity to work for you.

Flynn
